‘Mukta’ is a woman's name, and also means freedom. At the start of February, 2013, Art for Change Foundation in partnership with Global Health Advocates India organized a workshop for 15 artists exploring the health & development challenges of women in India, and looking to a vision for what could be. Five of the artists continued the process of discussion and creation in a 4 week residency while the other nine completed their pieces individually from home. The resulting works were exhibited at the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi a part of a larger celebration of International Women's Day organized by IGNCA and the Ministry of Culture called 'Bhoomika'. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Union Minister for Culture, Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch.
